I promised myself a Cape Epic tattoo if I were to finish the 2012 Absa Cape Epic, arguably the most grueling mountain bike stage race in the world. The race was held over eight days through 781 km of the Western Cape and 16,300 m of climbing over some of the most magnificent passes in South Africa.
And so I did finish unscathed, and caught up with Jaws from Johnny Two Thumb for the tattoo on my left calf:
